#16. Chi Nguyễn
My name is Chi Nguyen, contestant #16.
I’m currently a first year student attending Mesa College. I hope to transfer to UC San Diego by 2013 and major in biochemistry to pursue a future career as an optometrist. I am the youngest of a family of eight children. I was born in the fall of 1993 in Bataan, Philippines, lived in Seattle, Washington for a few years then moved to San Diego, California. I love every aspect of San Diego, from the beautiful sunny beach days to the people I encounter daily. I could spend hours at beach or just cruising around town. A lot of people would describe me as: outgoing, down-to-earth, cheerful, talkative, crazy, and loud! There is never a moment in my life where I am not smiling. I’ve recently stumbled upon this question: do you believe the glass is empty or half full? I believe the glass is always half full. Having something is always better than having nothing. Although it may not be a lot, one should always be happy with what they have and have a positive outlook in life.
Being raised in an Asian American, Roman Catholic household, my parents have taught me so many things about the principals of life in all sorts of views, whether it deals with faith or not. My family and friends have greatly shaped the person I am today. Without their help, support, and encouragement, I would not have the ability to do the things I love, such as: travel, play sports, sing, etc. I joined this pageant hoping to meet new friends, have a chance to learn more about the Vietnamese culture and traditions, and to teach younger generations to always remember our roots and preserve our traditions as Vietnamese Americans. Thanks for taking the time to read about me
