1. What are you passionate about?
I feel passionate about justice. Through my travels and life experiences, I have witnessed and combated injustice first hand and it has raised a great sense of appreciation of justice in me. Today, I serve in the US Army Military Police Corps to defend the constitution and uphold justice for all.
2. What is one goal you’d like to accomplish during your lifetime?
My grandest dream is to start my own family. It’s the American dream and my ultimate goal. And even if nobody marries me, I’ll probably adopt a kid or something. Preferably a daughter but a boy is okay too. My career is important too but being part of a happy family is most important to me.
3. If I could be anybody besides myself, I would be…
I would be the President of the United States. During my term, I would fix the economy without digging this nation into debt. I would achieve victory in the war in Afghanistan and I would extend my arms to other countries in need after taking care of my own.
4. What do you think the secret to a good life is?
I think the secret to a good life requires having some purpose in life and fulfilling that purpose. For me, that purpose is service towards my church, community and country. Whether I’m patrolling a city in Iraq or praying with the kids at church, I feel most happy that my existence has role and purpose.
5. What are three good traits your ideal girlfriend should have?
Integrity, loyalty and a great sense of humor. Integrity is the foundation of any type of relationship. Loyalty is especially important to me since I’m a soldier who will deploy overseas for extended periods of time and a great sense of humor would be a big bonus because most of my jokes are really lame.
6. What do people like best about you? Why?
I’m not sure how people see me but I would guess that people appreciate my virtue of humility. I pay great respect to my elders and superiors while leading my subordinates by example. For example, during a field training exercise, I slept outside with the bugs and coyotes so that the lower enlisted soldiers could sleep inside the tent and I think they really appreciated that. Humility is an important characteristic for any leader and I hope to maintain and build on this virtue.
7. If you could visit one place in the world, where would you choose to go and why?
I would go to Nha Trang, Vietnam. I have been there once as a child and I will never forget the clear ocean water and the friendly people. That’s where I plan to retire when I grow old and maybe I can go fishing everyday without being harassed by the California Fish and Game wardens. I would visit Vietnam this summer but my schedule and finances do not allow me to do so.
8. If you had a time machine that could take you back in time, what year would you go to and why?
I would go back to 2001 to prevent the terrorist acts from occuring. It would be a difficult task, given that I am only one person, but I am a well-organized, calculating strategist and I am confident that I can accomplish this with ease.
9. If someone made a movie of your life would it be a drama, a comedy, a romantic-comedy, action film, or science fiction?
It would definitely be a comedy. With the twists and turns of my life, most people would respond by laughing or shaking their heads. For example, I decided to sign eight years of my life away to the Army, after my big sister refused to let me keep a pet scorpion. I showed her.
10. What do you like to do most with a free hour? Why?
During my free hours, I often call up my battle buddies from far away. I lived and work with these guys every day for over a year and I miss them dearly. At times, I don’t even know what to say or ask so I just call, yell some random word and hang up. It’s just my way of saying “I miss you,” without sounding all soft.
11. Do you have any phobias?
I am terrified by the thought of ghosts. Particularly, I am scared of the pale female type with long hair in front of her face. I’m a grown boy now but some fears just don’t go away but I enjoy this fear because it makes watching scary movies more amusing,
12. What thought or message would you want to put in a fortune cookie?
It would say, “This fortune cookie is wasting your time. You make your own future.” I strongly stand against the belief that a person’s destiny is predetermined. As rational beings, humans are more than able to change their life as well as lives around them. It is important that people realize that.
